How To Tie A Tichel – Butterfly Style

The “butterfly” tie a great and original way to tie a headscarf. It’s light weight and very comfortable to wear. It gives a great spring or summery look and brings tying headscarves to a different level. It’s a style using two head scarves to create one custom head covering giving it a more fashionable look.

1.    When tying our headscarf butterfly style we experimented using a fringed headscarf over a simple, not fringed head scarf. Our model is wearing the Israeli Tichel with Flower Design in peach as the head scarf on the bottom.  Take your square headscarf and fold it into a triangle. Gently put it over your head. You should have a tail hanging on either side of your head and a tail hanging down by your neck.

2.    Our model is wearing the Basic Israeli Tichel with Lurex and Fringes in white as the second head scarf. Take your square headscarf and fold it into a triangle. Gently put it over your head the same way as the first one however, place it about one inch further back than the first scarf.

3.    Now, take the one inch part from the first headscarf that is sticking out and slowly and carefully fold it over the second head scarf forming a band with height.

4.    Finally, take all four tails (two from each side) and tie them tightly in the back of your neck to ensure your head scarf is strong and secure.

Accessorize for Spring with Spring Colors

Pastel Head Scarves

Try pastel head scarves and head coverings this spring

Finally!!! Winter is now over – or should be, and Spring has sprung!! For some reason the word Spring somehow makes me smile. Just thinking of the sun shining and flowers sprouting, birds chirping and the sound of children playing gives me the warmth I’ve been waiting for a whole Winter long. Just imagining the soft light Spring colors relaxes me. The word spring just makes me want to dance and sing! It makes me want to Spring into the new season we’ve been waiting for so long – or at least I’ve been waiting for so long! So no time to lose – let’s spring into Spring before this season is gone with the wind.

Of course the BIG question is “what color to wear in Spring?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!”

Well, don’t jump ahead of yourself  – Spring IS NOT  summer! Spring is Spring and Summer is Summer. So of course in the Spring, it might still be a little chilly or breezy; you might not want to dump that jacket just yet , however you night decide to wear a lighter weight jacket. Now there’s no need to start wearing summer clothes or summer colors yet – we’ll save that for summer time, but you can definitely start wearing spring colors!

Now, we all know that Spring colors are those light and soft looking pastel colors. For example: light pink, light green, light blue or light orange. Light yellow or peach or even white. Now if you’re not the “light” kind of person – don’t fret! We’ve got the perfect idea for you! You can still wear those dark color clothing that you love and just dress it up with some lovely, light, pastel colored hair accessories, women’s berets or head coverings. It gives the perfect look, makes the perfect outfit and of course the most perfect you!!

So let’s try to imagine this to ourselves. All black with a light green and gold necklace with a light green head wrap. Or how about a soft pink necklace with a soft pink beret?! It’s all in your hands – the sky is the limit when it comes to hair accessories!

Now, If your just edging to wear those colors already, your just sick and tired of all the dark colors; the best hair accessories will probably be the darker ones since you don’t want  to look too summery either. You can try a light weight beret in a darker shade, a banana clip, head band or head wrap.

It’s up to you! There’s so much to do with hair accessories, head wraps and headscarves- it’s a world of its own. So spring into it and dive right in before it’s too late!!

Hair Accessories You Shouldn’t Leave Home Without!

brush

hair accessories you shouldn't leave home without!

You never realize how important they are until you need them. Just like you never pay attention to your toes until you stub them, you don’t appreciate or realize the importance of hair accessories until you’re in a situation where you feel you just can’t live without them.

For example, imagine to yourself a hot summer day you decide to go for a quick swim in the lake nearby.  Enjoying yourself you totally forget your kids finish school in 5 minutes and you must be there on time OR ELSE. You jump out quickly, get dressed and hop into the car. However, your hair is wet and knotty and is starting to get frizzy. Now, who likes frizzy hair?!?!?! Gosh! “If only I would have a little brush or comb in my purse to just give a quick brush and make me feel all better”.

Okay, you might think I’m exaggerating, yes this situation may sound a little interesting but try to think of yourself in any other situation where a brush or a comb would just save the day. Like on a date, PTA, interviews….. It’s not worth taking the chance and not carrying it along with you. It’s light, small and it won’t be a hassle for you to keep it on you for it will just sit in your purse until you need it, and boy will you be glad you did!

Same goes with pony holders and bobby pins. When your pony holder pops and you can’t retie it for the twenty fifth time because it’s too stretched out and your hair is just flying everywhere, you’re at work, a customer is coming and you’ve got to look your best, it’s a pity to take the chance and not carry these things around with you because they are so small, you won’t even notice they’re there until you need them; and trust me you will be forever grateful you did.

Obviously, a rain bonnet is the best thing to have. It’s smaller than an umbrella and does the trick. It’s small, foldable and plastic. It’s worth carrying it around for that one time it rains and you just can’t afford to get your hair all wet.

So be original. Why not just pack yourself a little bag now with all the hair accessories that are basics, that you REALLY might need one day and put it in the corner of your purse so you won’t be too late and have to learn from your mistakes.  Trust me; it’s worth it. It makes life all that much easier and less stressful. Come on, don’t we all dream of a stress free life?! Well, this is your first step to making your dream come true.

A Note about Hair Accessories…From the Teachers Desk.

Hair Accessory Dos and Don’ts from the Teachers Perspective

I walk into teach my 7th grade class on an early afternoon ready to start a brand new day and a brand new lesson; only to have five hands already raised.

“Could I go to the bathroom, I reeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllyyyyyyy have to go” they shout.

Although they just had lunch I let them go thinking that at least the class will be quiet.

They come back in with their side bangs perfectly swept and their soft wide headbands sitting perfectly on their heads.

So that’s what they had to go to the bathroom for. Not only that, but they keep on opening their desks every two minutes to look in their tiny little mirror to make sure it’s still in place. Well, of course within the next five minutes one hair actually did move out of place and all of a sudden they’re frantically crying that they reeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllyyyyyyy have to go to the bathroom.

“Wow, this is gonna be fun” I think to myself.

Don’t you agree with me that life would be so much simpler with some nice and stylish hair accessories that just let our kids live life?? Put it on once and you don’t have to check up on it till the end of the day.

The first step would probably be to drop those side bangs. Grow them in once and for all. Besides for being busy in the mirror the whole day making sure they’re perfectly in place and besides for constantly making sure they’re not oily (because they were touched the whole day), we teachers will actually be able to see your daughter’s eyes and face and she’ll be able to concentrate in class so much better. If she insists that she likes a cut in the front of her face why not try a middle part? The middle part cut is actually back in style in full force. And it keeps hair out of the way and we can actually see your child’s face that way too!

Another great way to keep her hair out of her face is with a headband. NOT a soft headband that slips and will probably fall off every three seconds, a headband with teeth that will actually stay on her head for a longer period of time.

Drop those bobby pins and go for the clips, they come in many different colors and are much more secure.

Next on the list is the back of the hair. The best way to keep it out of the way is to put it up. A banana clip can be an idea as long as it’s not loose and doesn’t slip out every two minutes. Otherwise, a butterfly clip, a jaw clip or a scrunchy could make the perfect fit. Stylish, simple and comfortable she won’t need to be all busy with her hair 24/7.

I can go on like this forever, but I think you get the point and I’m sure you agree with me by now that life and school would feel a thousand times more free and enjoyable without always having to be busy with hair accessories and what people will think if one hair is out of place because this way no hairs will be out of place.

For our part, on our side of the teacher’s desk, we will finally be able to have a class without any disruptions!

Hair Accessories For Women Help YOU Set The Trend!

YOU set the style! Try it with these mini jaw clips or any other hair accessory you like!

YOU set the style! Try it with these mini jaw clips or any other hair accessory you like!

Do you ever feel like wearing some real original hair accessories, like something that not EVERYONE is wearing and just don’t have the courage or self-esteem to be “different” that EVERYONE else??

Now, let me ask you something- Who starts the trends?? Well, the answer is very simple – you and I are the ones who set the trends. “What?!?!” you may think, but it’s true. Okay you might not have been the one to actually start the trend but it could’ve been your next door neighbor, best friend or even a family member.

The nature of people is that we are always looking at “the other person” to know what to wear and what is in. Try coming to school or work once with a hair style that no one is wearing yet and see how many people start wearing it within the next month. For example, let’s say no one wears braids to school. Try wearing a braid to school every day for the next month – you can even add a ribbon at the bottom to make it a little more interesting and don’t forget to walk with your head held high! Now my dear friend, you will be surprised to see how many people actually start wearing a braid to school. It may take some time till people get used to it but the more they see it, the more they like it and that’s when they’ll decide they need change and start wearing it too. Funny, no? Trust me it’s true! Try it for yourself and let me know!

So why don’t you try being the leader for once instead of the follower? Just jump into the world of trends in hair styles and hair accessories and be the first one to wear the “newest” style!

Need ideas?! Sure, I’ll help you out! How about mini jaw clips like the ones pictured in this blog or the lookk of  two pig tail braids with a ribbon or hair bow on each side? Or how about the tight twisted bun-piano teacher look? Ever thought of bringing hats back into style?!?! How about a womens beret?  Oh, and I almost forgot, head bands made out of real hair! The hair can be braided and stuck on the headband. You can get exactly the same color as your hair and the look is “oh so natural”!

Now, it doesn’t have to be something so extreme, it could be a regular normal hair accessory. The point is that you can and should wear whatever pleases you and not the world!

I’ll leave the rest of the thinking up to you, so good luck and don’t forget to let me know if you come up with something really interesting!
