It’s these small little details that add so much to your special day and make it as memorable as possible.

When talking about weddings, let’s not forget about our flower girls! Whether your flower girls are your relatives or family friends; they really add a lot to a wedding. It’s these small little details that add so much to your special day and make it as memorable as possible. So if you’re like the many out there who choose to have your tiny friends as flower girls, you must consider the hair styles for flower girls that you want them to be wearing.

Below we provided for you a few different ideas of ways you may want your flower girls hair to be done.

If you are lucky enough to have a toddler be a flower girl you will soon realize that any and every little girl hair style looks cute on them since they are so small and angelic. Whether their hair is pulled up or let down in curls, the best way to go is by putting some sort of headband such as ribbon, lace, etc. In addition, you may want their headband to reflect your wedding theme and color. For example if you are doing a Hawaiian theme wedding go for something colorful and  wild and if you are doing a more subtle theme such as a beach theme, a lace headband in soft blues and greens with some seashells would look really original and make them stand out.

For older kids, there are a few different looks you may want to go with.

  1. The Princess Style:

The princess style is simple and beautiful, it does however have to be done with medium or long hair. You simply put their hair up in a high and secure bun on the top of their head and add a tiara. It gives a mature and classy look to any little girl and since it is pulled securely, it will last throughout the whole night.

  1. An updo:

Updos are great for kids of any age. For kids with long hair, you may want to pull up all their hair and twist it into a bun with pretty updo accessories such as diamond bobby pins or updo screws, or you may want to put it half up and leave the rest down in Shirley Temple curls. For kids with short hair, it’s probably better to put it half up so that it shouldn’t fall apart too quickly. For half-up updos you can take the half a pony and make it into a flower with accessories or into a pretty little bun. In addition, you may want to twist both sides into braids or just twists and make them meet in the middle with a pretty updo screw. There are many other updo hair styles you may want to choose from but these are just a few.

  1. The loose look:

Simply leave their hair down and curl it in tight curls. Then, add a pretty headband from either diamonds, studs, lace, ribbons, flowers etc. The headband will pull their hair out of their face but will still allow them to wear their hair down and feel all mature and grown up.

Of course, we can go on and on with lots of more ideas for our cute tiny friends, but these are just a few basic and extremely popular hair dos for weddings. We hope this helps you out and if you have any ideas that you think others will appreciate, please feel free to leave a comment!

From braids, to twists and buns and many more different styles, there’s an updo out there for everyone! So be original!

From braids, to twists and buns and many more different styles, there’s an updo out there for everyone! So be original!

I’m sure you will all agree with me that one of the most common and popular hair styles for weddings is an updo. For those of you who are not familiar with an updo, an updo is when ones hair is pulled up and twisted and styled with updo screws and other updo accessories in very elegant and comfortable manner. Women and children both like wearing updos to weddings, of course however, the older you are the more mature and sophisticated you want your updo to look. In addition, some people like to only put half their hair up and leave the rest down for a more mature look or to give it a twist. Updos are very stylish and give the added touch of royalty and elegance you are looking for when going to a wedding. From braids, to twists and buns and many more different styles, there’s an updo out there for everyone! So be original!

Below we provided a stylish and easy updo that you can try on your own at home. Before we start there are a few things you may want to know. One of the most important things about an updo is the hair accessories you choose to put it together. Updo accessories are really what brings it all together and gives it the special added touch. They have the power to dress up an updo or even make it look under dressed if it is not the right one. So be sure to choose your updo accessories carefully. Depending on the outfit you are wearing and the way your updo is styled you may want to simply tie it together with a pretty bobby pin with rhinestones or a fashionable updo screw. If you are looking for something a little larger that will stand out, try a pearl hair comb, a tiara or a wreath. Of course, there are many other updo accessories but we just named a few to give you a basic idea.

Now that you have your updo hair accessories, start by washing your hair. Either let it dry over night or blow dry it yourself. For additional volume you may want to go over it with a curling iron before you start or if you are sleeping on it overnight, you can simply put your hair into a twisted bun so that when you let it loose in the morning in should be a little curly and full of volume.

Below are a few basic steps to make a very elegant updo:

  1. Start by leaving a few strands of hair out in the front. Take about an inch of hair above your ear and braiding it. Then take the braid over the crown of your head and pin it behind the other ear. Do the same thing with the other side. It should look like a braid headband.
  2. Now, take the bangs or few strands of hair that you left out in the front and sweep them over to cover up the spot on each side where you started braiding you hair so that it could look really natural. Pin them up with a fashionable updo bobby pin or updo stick.
  3. Take the rest of your hair and twist it into a low bun at the nape of your neck.
  4. Add your updo accessories such as a beautifully styled comb or pin to give it the added touch.

There, you have it! Let us know how it works for you. If you know of any other updo you can try at home that works for you, please go ahead and share it with us.

Wedding Hair Styles: Wearing a Tiara on Your Special Day

. The tiara is most certainly a crucial accessory of the whole “princess for a day” look.

I think that in every girl’s head, when imagining themselves on their wedding day – there is definitely a tiara in the picture along with a long white wedding dress. The tiara is most certainly a crucial accessory of the whole “princess for a day” look. It makes the bride look a step above everyone else and really gives her that royal twist.

The tiara that we know today is nothing close to the tiara from ancient history. Today, the tiara can simply be a flat head band with pearls and rhinestones.  Although they are not crown like, they still provide the sparkle and glow to the bride. In addition, today many brides choose to wear a tiara that’s more royal, one that has actual height like a princess.  The princess is light, comfortable and has a comb so that it can be adjusted perfectly on one’s head. They usually have rhinestones and make the bride stand out.

In the olden days tiaras were a sign of royalty and nobility. The tiaras of some of the Eastern Kings were actually ornate and heavy. However, in more classic and simple times, the nobility often wore a band of cloth around their head and tied in a knot behind as a tiara. Yet, mush richer tiaras had been worn a whole lot earlier by the Egyptians. They were extremely delicate and beautiful. For example, one tiara which belonged to the princess was made of delicate flowers in gold wire set on stones. The Greeks on the other hand made their tiaras out of gold and silver and would wear them on special occasions.

Slowly through history, the tiara evolved into the tiara that we are used to today. Of course, the different styles of tiaras have varied a lot throughout history.  They have ranged from royal crowns and princess tiaras to a modern trend towards side tiaras and asymmetrical designs.

So whether you are wearing your hair up or down don’t leave out a tiara on your special day. Today, they come in hundreds of different styles with a choice of any rhinestone, Swarovski, bead or crystal. A beautifully designed tiara makes a great bridal hair accessory to make a bride look and feel like a princess on her wedding day in addition to making her look extremely elegant and stand out in the crowd in her own special way.

Besides for the fact that the tradition of braiding flowers in your hair for special occasions goes back thousands of years, wearing flowers as a hair accessory in your hair is actually very in style and fashionable this season.

Now that we are just about to enter wedding season, can’t think of a better way to start than with flowers! Besides for the fact that the tradition of braiding flowers in your hair for special occasions goes back thousands of years, wearing flowers as a hair accessory in your hair is actually very in style and fashionable this season. So whether you have a wedding coming up or not the brief demonstration we provided for you below on how to weave flowers into your hair is something anybody and everybody can benefit from.

1. Choosing the right flowers for your hair:

Before you actually start putting the flowers in your hair you must select the flower or group of flowers you would like to wear. Take the time to choose the flowers that compliment your skin tone and your outfit. Some flowers are more durable than others. For example, the orchid is hardier, stronger and long lasting. For a cheaper alternative and a completely different look try the Baby’s Breath flowers (especially nice for kids hair styles) that are also long lasting. In addition, believe it or not, different flowers mean different things; they speak their own language. For example, the red rose symbolizes passion and love, while the pink rose symbolizes friendship, admiration and happiness. Violet represents modesty and faithfulness and Camellia is for gratitude. Of course, every color means something else but generally for weddings or simply for style you might just want to keep to something that compliments you and looks good with what you are wearing.

Now that you have chosen the flowers, place their stems in water.

2.  Preparation:

Start by washing your hair with shampoo and conditioner. Gently brush out any knots or tangles and make sure your hair is smooth to get the best effect for your braid. Try to have one mirror in front of you and one mirror behind you so you can clearly see what’s going on. You can simply place the flower at the front of your hair, in an up do, in a pony or in a braid.

3.  Add the flowers:

If you intend on putting hair spray in your hair to keep your up do, braid or hair style in place, do so BEFORE you put the flowers in. This is very important because hair spray contains alcohol which is the number one ingredient to make flowers die and shrivel up! To keep your flowers alive through the day or throughout a wedding, try to spray some water on the flowers once or twice without getting your hair wet as not to mess up your hair style.

Now, take the flower(s) you want to place in your hair. Cut the stem to about one inch in length. Gently place them where you would want them to sit and make sure the stem is hidden beneath your hair. Once it is exactly where and how you like it, secure it in place with a bobby pin. If you’d like to make it a more simple you can just cut the stems off totally and with your glue gun gently glue them on to an alligator hair clip or barrette.

There, you have it! Of course, we provided you with one of the more simple ways to wear flowers in your hair. There are many more different ways I’m sure you know about… Care to share?
